The Jennifers Interview, Part III: Joe Stone

Given that the number of band members named Skizz outnumbers the number of band members named Jennifer (Skizzes - 1, Jennifers - 0), have you considered a change of band names?

I see your point, but I think we like to keep a connection to the robust spirit of the 90's Jennifers, and we still enjoy playing some of John's song from that bygone era.  Also, it doesn't hurt that people occaisionally recognize the name from that time.

What makes John's songs fun to play?
They are real solid, but also have enough space for me to add melodic ideas, to add another layer.   And I love the guitar interplay.  Everybody is easy to work with, so it is easy for me to try out new ideas or rework old ones. This keeps it interesting and fun.

You're a public school teacher. How much do your students know about your musical endeavors?

I teach English as a second language. I play guitar for the middle school students sometimes so they can sing along and pick up some typical English phrases and expressions. Music is a great way to pick up another language because lyrics can really linger in your head. I haven't really played any of my recordings for them, but they seem to really like the occasional live performance.
